Everyone wants show-stopping braids that look incredible day in and day out. The trick is to choose a good quality braid and then keep them clean and moisturised.

From braid spray and scalp lotion to hair moisturiser, the Kinky Aftercare range has got everything you need to keep your braids looking fresh and you feeling fab. We’ve even put this handy list of tips together to keep your natural hair and braids on point. Follow these steps and you’ll be shining.

1. Wash your braids

Wash your braids

If you want fresh braids, then you need to make sure that they’re clean. That’s why we recommend washing your braids once a week. This will keep them smelling and looking amazing. Here’s what you’ve got to do:

  • Put warm water and shampoo into a small spray bottle.
  • Shake it up and spray the mixture directly to your scalp. Using your fingers, massage and rub your scalp. (BTW, this also helps stimulates hair growth)
  • Spray your braids too and then make sure you rinse them properly
  • Condition your braids from root to tip and leave the conditioner in for three minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly and towel dry.

2. Keep your scalp healthy

Keep your scalp healthy

To take your braid game to the next level, you need to make sure your scalp is moisturised. This protects your hair from dandruff and gives your scalp the TLC it needs to stay healthy.

Kinky Scalp lotion contains menthol. This will give your scalp that cooling effect that combats discomfort. This product is a must-have for those summer braids, especially if you have cornrows upfront.

4. Edges Laid

Edges Laid
Moisturising your baby hairs are trending. So give your braids that extra heat by spending some time on your edges. The easiest way of giving them some love is to use a small comb or even a toothbrush.

Kehlani kills her braids with her edges that are on fleek. Make your own pattern or keep them simple. Whatever you decide, just have a little fun.

5. Steamed

Steamed
Another way to revive your braids and give them some volume is to steam them. This will give your braids a gorgeous curly look.

You will need to undo your braids a little bit at the bottom and then put them in hot water for 3 minutes. Dry them off, apply some braid spray and show the world what you got.
